Welcome Creditors

On February 16, 2011 (the "Petition Date"), Borders Group, Inc. and seven of its affiliates (the "Debtors") filed voluntary petitions in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York (the "Bankruptcy Court") seeking relief under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the "Bankruptcy Code"). The Debtors are represented by Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman, LLP. The Debtors continue to operate their businesses and manage their properties as debtors-in-possession.

On February 24, 2011, the United States Trustee appointed the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors (the "Committee") in the Debtors' bankruptcy cases pursuant to section 1102 of the Bankruptcy Code. The Committee consists of seven members: Penguin Group (USA) Inc., HarperCollins Publishers, LLC, Random House, Inc., The Perseus Books Group, Sony Music Entertainment, GGP Limited Partnership, and Simon Property Group. The Committee has selected the Lowenstein Sandler PC law firm as its counsel. Bruce Buechler and Bruce Nathan are the principal attorneys responsible for this engagement. This website was created to assist the Committee in providing information to creditors, as well as to solicit and receive comments from such creditors.
